In 1997, AHJ Engineers was selected to design the first phase of the Idaho Shakespeare Festival in a unique habitat reserve along the Boise River, that is home to an astonishing variety of plant and animal species. The first structures were the retained earth amphitheater, the stage with orchestra pit and trap doors, the box office, the restrooms and the concession building. Over the years we have been involved in the additions and improvements that continue to bring all the magic, drama and passion of professional theater. The 770-seat, state-of-the-art facility was built to feature the human voice, yet wows audiences with a visual experience as well. Enhancements, such as new light trusses, stage walls and reworked staging keep the theater a favorite summer destination. We are honored to have provided structural consulting for this special place all these years.
